Software I use on a daily basis.

xterm
Notes:
Would it really add so much to bloat to put better font control and alpha-layer transparency into XTerm? How about an external widget to control the ... what is it Athena or Xt widget configuration items [X-resources] currently in apps-defaults. |

Tomboy
Notes:
I this this is the applet that keeps failing on KDE startup - or some component of it does. Also does this applet work w/o a panel or taskbar running - can it run out of a desktop icon? |

Eye of GNOME
Notes:
This seems okay as an image-viewer - I still think Gwenview has a better feature set. |

GNOME
Notes:
It's doing all right so far - finally found out how to make it do single-click activation of icons (is that metacity config?) - still lacks a transparent (or even functional, I now find) panel or taskbar... |

gzip
Notes:
Using this constantly, of course... |

Evolution
Notes:
Finding Evolution to be slightly less intuitive and functional than Thunderbird/Icedove, but quite a bit more stable. Specifically, the GPG functionality isn't as strong in Evolution as in Enigmail. Evolution has good integration of Calendar, ToDo, etc. |

Vim
Notes:
Vim can only be an improvement on VI - unless you're more old-school than me and already know the entire VI command set by rote... |
It's a list of software used to accomplish something. LAMP is an example.
