Software I use on a daily basis.

GKSu
Notes:
I'm pretty sure I'm using this - it should be replacing KDEsu, not that I'm using GNOME, right? |

TightVNC
Notes:
This is a really excellent piece of software, needing only a couple things: 1) on-the-fly-re-sizable desktops from the client side (want to resize the window and get the desktop to re-size/re-draw, 2) built-in SSH tunnelling. |

Tango Desktop Project
Notes:
I'm finding I like the Tango colors and icons [some of them] - I will see what else their offering - didn't realize it was a "Desktop Project. |

RPM
Notes:
I like RPM and YaST - the Aptitude+Dpkg+apt combination used by Debian derived systems is "okay" and arguably more powerful, but remains less intuitive and just harder to use than RPM. The various distros need to standardizer the filesystem layout for RP |

Clam AntiVirus
Notes:
Only using this on Windows, and only the version from PortableApps.com (loaded to a USB stick). Seems nice, but I haven't found any virus yet, so .... does it work? ;) |
![]() |
GNU GRUB
Notes:
Using this. Not convinced it's any better or worse than that other boot loader... the "unified" in "GRand Unified Bootloader" seems over-stated to me - /what/ does it unify? Other bootloader configs, perhaps? I wish. |

GNU Core Utilities
Notes:
man pages, ladies - could we get some man pages? Up-to-date? How about Distro-specific? luzers, or just lazy, are you? The 'info' format sux. Too hard to use. Too many keystrokes. And not enough information quickly enough. |

Gnash
Notes:
Have only been able to get this to work once, stand-alone. Does not work as a browser plugin, in my experience. |
![]() |
GNU findutils
Notes:

Nautilus
Notes:
I want a functional location bar, with the ability to browse fish://, ssh://, or sftp:// URL-linked sites. Does that work in Nautilus? I'm doing it, but I'm never sure if it's nautilus or one of the other file managers. |
It's a list of software used to accomplish something. LAMP is an example.
