The new mid-registrar functionality is now available with OpenSIPS 2.3 (current development branch)! What is a mid-registrar? The mid-registrar is a mid-component of a SIP platform, designed to work between end users and the platform's main ... [More] registration component. It opens up new possibilities for leveraging existing infrastructure in order to continue to grow (as subscribers and as registration traffic) while keeping an existing low-resources registrar server. What can a mid-registrar help with? Acting as a registration front-end to the main SIP registrar, the OpenSIPS mid-registrar is able to: * Convert incoming high-rate registration traffic into a low-rate variant, towards the main registrar layer. With proper configuration, it can absorb over 90% of existing registration traffic while preserving the back-end's user location state, effectively reducing resource usage at the respective layer. * Add support for parallel calling (registration based) to registrar servers which are not able to provide such functionality; The OpenSIPS mid-registrar can aggregate all the registered contacts from the same user (AOR) and push forward to the main registrar a single registration per AOR. On the way back, from the main registrar, an incoming call will be parallel forked to all registered contacts of the user/AOR. How to use the OpenSIPS mid-registrar? A comprehensive tutorial is available, explaining how the OpenSIPS mid-registrar can be used and how it works. For more details on configuration options and available functions, see the README file of the module. I'm really excited to announce that after almost one year of hard work, the OpenSIPS 2.1 RC is now available for download. http://opensips.org/pub/opensips/latest/src/ The 2.1 version is a major step in OpenSIPS evolution, encapsulating major ... [More] redesign (protocols, timers, reactors, async support) and valuable additions (websockets, Fraud Detection, SIP Compression, Async DB queries, Topology Hiding and more). http://www.opensips.org/About/Version-2-1-0-Notes OpenSIPS 2.1 is the first in line benefiting of the New Design (NG) brainstorming and work - where many radical and innovative concepts have been introduced, to put OpenSIPS on the top of the SIP server engines - in terms of efficiency, scalability, features set and flexibility. OpenSIPS 2.1 is the result of the whole community effort - there were many people involved in the design, in implementation, testing and reporting - and we want to thank you all for making this release possible: https://github.com/OpenSIPS/opensips/blob/2.1/CREDITS Version 2.1 is a release candidate - the stable GA version is to be release in the next 1.5 month, after more in depth testing . Thanks to Evandro Villaron Franceschinelli and Robison Gonsalves Tesini, ee are proud to present the opensips emergency module. To make as emergency call using a single code (e.g.: 911 in US or 112 in Europe) has been a challenge for VOIP technology. ... [More] This is a problem because a crucial information is missing: the user's location and the location is essential to route the call to the closest PSAP(call center responsible for answering emergency calls). This has been studied by many entities, such as the IETF, who created several RFC on the topic, and the American NENA (National Emergency Number Association), who devised a solution based on the concepts of the IETF. The main elements of this solution are, LIS (Location information server ,which is the node that determines the location of the VoIP terminal), ERDB (servers that determines the area's emergency closest PSAP due this location ), VPC (servers that manage the location and routing information associated with a call) and, most importantly, the SIP PROXY that can make routing the call according to the data sent by these servers. The OpenSIPS can be an element in this architecture acting as a SIP proxy, but need to meet the requirements of this solution. To provide this we have developed the Emergency Module, which basically makes the interface with the servers mentioned and adds the new SIP extensions that the IETF has created for this purpose. Including only two commands and some parameters in your configuration file, we enable OpenSIPS to be an important component in the solution of this problem, with great potential to meet American market or other countries that could adopt a similar architecture. See the great tutorial on how to use this module: http://www.opensips.org/Documentation/Tutorials-Emergency-2-1 [Less]

I'm really excited to announce the first OpenSIPS Summit for 2015 : 12th - 13th of May 2015, Amsterdam NL This event is a premiere as: * it is the first Summit taking place on the old continent (aka Europe :)) * it is the first 2-days ... [More] event * it hosts an OpenSIPS Social Event on 12th evening The star of this Summit is OpenSIPS 2.1 (this is to be released on 18th of March), introducing to the participants, via presentations and workshops, all the great additions we have in 2.1 - webRTC, async queries, SIP compression, fraud detection and many others. Of course, the Summit is not only about 2.1, but also about tools, platform or engines which are OpenSIPS interconnected (like billing, interfaces and others) We are heavily working on setting the final schedule (topics and presenters) and we are open to anyone willing to give a presentation on any OpenSIPS topic ( see the call for papers http://www.opensips.org/Community/Summit-2015Amsterdam#toc6 ). We already have an awesome set of speakers from various and interesting companies/institutes across Europe The Social Event is to be held on the 12th of May in the evening, it is open to anyone (not related to the Summit registration). If you want to meet and see faces behind nicks/emails, to share a beer (or an Amsterdam coffee :D), to shake hands and have a good time, simply drop an email. The Summit registration is already available (space is not infinite, first come, first served): http://www.opensips.org/Community/Summit-2015Amsterdam#toc7 http://www.opensips.org/Community/Summit-Registration I'm really looking forward to see a lot of people in Amsterdam, especially all those people who could not make it to the Summits in US !
