It seems that openhub does not understand bitbake recipes. For instance, have a look at the meta-kf5 project here: https://www.openhub.net/p/meta-kf5 . Apparently not code. Is this by design?

I suspect you're right... Not that it's an intentional slight but it probably isn't getting the attention it deserves. Please take a look at https://github.com/blackducksw/ohcount and see if you can find any errors or suggest an implementation for bitbake in our source code recognition engine. This is the most straightforward way to add/repair any oversight we may have made.
