Stack recommendations lack novelty
Here is what a researcher has to say about recommendations: «Predictive accuracy is not enough». Short version; long version.
To add some value, stack recommendations should not just be things that almost anyone will use (from my gnomey preferences ohloh recommends me gettext, tar, d-bus, glib, rsync... - familiarity) but also:
- things I may not know about (novelty);
- things that fit my profile, but not 1k other profiles (personalisation).
