Hello Everyone,
I am having trouble getting my package to update through its enlistment. And its saying (Failed 24 days ago.)
https://www.ohloh.net/p/kinetic
I have (against the recommendation) tried removing and adding it and waited days between as I thought the system may clean out after a few days.
The issue is did a history edit on the git repository itself to change the 5 users that are all me to a single user.
I did not even think that this would break ohloh.
Can I do anything to fix this?
John
John:
The reason for it failing is a bug on ohloh's side and there isn't anything you can currently do to fix it.
This bug is causing other repositories for other projects to fail as well.
Correcting the problem on our side is a very high priority and I will reply here once it's corrected.
John:
Disregard my previous post.
The GIT error is very similar to an internal bug that causes issues with enlistments updating, but it is slightly different.
I believe the error causing your particular project can be fixed much more easily.
I've started a process that should repair your project enlistment. It may take a day or so to complete.
I'll let you know here once it's finished.
Thanks for your prompt response. I am impressed.
If a project manager could force clean the enlistment because they know they did something 'out of the normal' then it would be cool. If it deliberately took a couple of days to do the clean then I don't think anyone would abuse it.
All the best,
John
John:
The jobs I started yesterday have finished and the kinetic project is all set now.
Ohloh only tries 4 times before giving up for good. We're looking into making ohloh re-try things better.
We're also looking into making an internal report page on our side where we can spot failed enlistments better so we can figure out what's wrong.
We are also going to figure out a better way for ohloh to handle failures so that no manual intervention is required.
On top of all that, we've also thought about providing a one-time link to the project manager when a failure occurs that they can click on to try again.
It'll be a while before some of the changes I mentioned above actually make it into the product but we certainly realize we need to do them in order to make ohloh easier to maintain in the long haul.
