I have found this system to be very well designed & scalable. It looks amazing even with the default theme. This system should be on the short list of any creative agency looking for a digital asset management system or anyone who deals with many digital resources every day. There are many regular updates from the project leader and many other community members. The project has recently moved to SVN for updates, and a plug-in architecture has been developed. It is also completely configurable to individual needs, and much of this can be done through the systems interface. It handles many resource types, and more are being added all the time. There is an active Google group & wiki so it’s easy to get support when you get stuck. There is even a hosted option if you don’t want the hassle of configuring it yourself. Give it a go!
This software has come a long way in a very short time, and now offers features at the enterprise level. It is very stable, and all bugs in the development version are squashed promptly. ResourceSpace has the potential to compete with commercial software like Canto Cumulus. The main developer and community can offer excellent support and development. Highly recommended!
ResourceSpace continues to evolve and welcome new developments.
I've been working with ResourceSpace for over two years, and the variety of implementation goals and strategies I've seen in this time is fascinating, with a high success rate.
The thing I like most about it is the integration of so many great open source projects. If you want to learn about open source web development and see what is possible with freely available technologies, ResourceSpace is a terrific environment.
I'm using this software for our online school, publishing company, our fitness company, and our employees who are all over the world.
It's simply amazing. Wordpress type setup allows anyone to upload content and use within minutes.
My only wish is that there be a better system to unify the login with a CMS & better documentation.
Highly recommended as I've researched for many different options and this is hands down the best as a library content tool or as an online file storage system.
