Just another short update on KMobileTools development: Unfortunatelly due to the lack of man power not many ideas could be realized. What has been done since the last update: - I have re-added a job system (which takes care of processing jobs like ... [More] "fetching address book") - I designed a job viewer to visualize the job progress - since I moved away from Linux, I had to make KMobileTools compile with Visual Studio. Now not only Linux but also Windows is a possible target platform. To see the visual changes, I have made a screen shot which reflects KMobileTools in its current state. read more [Less]

As summer is coming, the 0.5.0 final version is near too! The (hopefully) last beta was just released, including one of the most wanted features: the Gammu Engine. It's still a bit too difficult to configure, but it's fully working, ready to be ... [More] tested. More information and instructions on the gammu engine can be found in this page The changelog is short, but this version also includes a lot of bugfixes, some of them user contributed, and full support to the new incoming kdebluetooth version, which will be an important release. Listening to our users, we also added KNotify support for notifying the user about events. And some news from the KDE 4 development: KMobileTools was just accepted and added to KDEPim, so it will be in the default KDE4 installation. As always, you can find all release files in our downloads page. LiveMobileTools for 0.5.0 beta3 is now released. read more [Less]

As from title, KMobileTools 0.5 beta2 is coming out. The code itself is nearly ready, but since i'm still waiting for releasing kdebluetooth too there's time enough to make things better :) So, i'd like to start setting up a proper documentation ... [More] , such as README and INSTALL files, but also standard KDE docbook documentation. I just need some (more or less) experienced user, i'll give him all guidelines he'll need. If any, please contact me through email or irc. Thanks Marco [Less]

After a long wait and many code rewrites the new KMobileTools generation is here! The beta1 release of KMobileTools 0.5 brings you a totally redesigned user interface, better codebase stability, full phonebook support, integration with KDE ... [More] AddressBook and Kontact, better support for a lot of mobile phones. It also makes you live a new experience with devices handling: no more needing to check dmesg to look your device, no more bluetooth binding, no more permission checking. KMobileTools 0.5 has some new wizards that help you configuring your system. And the device layer is indipendent from the lower backend: plug your phone as bluetooth, then as usb, KMobileTools will automatically find it again, since it checks the Unique ID of the phone (IMEI) instead of statically checking a device entry. To help you enjoying this new software, we've created LiveMobileTools, a Live CD that has everything ready for your mobile phones. You will find KMobileTools and LiveMobileTools in the download section The gammu engine is not usable yet. This is due to lack of developers and time. If you feel like joining the kmobiletools team and helping enhancing the gammu engine, please join us on IRC. read more [Less]
