Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce: Date Filters! Yes, that is right. We heard from you over and over again how great it would be to be able to filter dates on GoodData dashboards. And not just with the standard drop down filters but with actual
... [More]
date filters that would deal with the specifics and uniqueness of dates.
Just think about the following use case. You want to see the breakdown of i.e. your sales pipeline over time and you have a bunch of reports on your dashboard - one broken down by stages, the other one by sales reps, the third one by product. In the past you had to create different tabs on your dashboard for different time periods - e.g. last quarter, last four quarters, last 8 quarters, etc.
Now, you can very easily add a date filter, specify what date dimension you want to filter and the filter will be automatically applied to all your reports on the specific dashboard tab. A nice new drop down will be added to the upper right-hand corner of the dashboard tab and you will be able to use nice visual slider to filter just the periods you are interested in. We also added the flexibility for you to define whether the date filter will be in the granularity of days/weeks/months/quarters or years.
Of course if you have some reports on the dashboard that you don't want the filter be applied to, you can exclude them.
We hope that this new feature will satisfy most of your date filtering needs and we would love to hear your feedback on this new functionality. We are always here to listen and I can assure you that user feedback is the most important input into our product roadmap.
Last but not least, I would like to thank to the whole GoodData team and our GoodData evangelists who helped us with usability testing and provided invaluable feedback over the past couple of months. Thank you!
Now, watch the video below to learn more about how the new date filters work or just login to GoodData and give it a try! You should also register for a 20-minute live demonstration on Wed, Jun 22, 2011 at 10:00 AM PDT.
Enjoy,
Hubert

It is my pleasure to introduce SwagLove to the blog. SwagLove is a pay-as-you go service that makes thanking loyal customers a piece of cake. Their approach is simple and straightforward: upload a logo, select the items, send off a redemption code
... [More]
to the recipient you wish to reward and SwagLove takes care of the rest.
In a recent interview, Kevin Materi, SwagLove's founder and COO, shares his favorite reports and discusses how GoodData has helped his company become more metrics driven..........
GoodData: I love the simplicity of SwagLove and in some regards it reminds me a lot of GoodData. Meaning that is it innovative, straightforward and at the end of the day changes how companies do business.
SwagLove: I agree with that statement and another similarity is the simple interface. One of the things we like most about GoodData is the simple interface, which allows anyone on our team to quickly manipulate the data to generate reports they like. This information allows us to quickly see an overview as to what's happening in the company and make changes when needed.
GoodData: What is your favorite report and/or dashboard? What gets looked at first thing in the morning?
SwagLove: There's so many it's hard to chose. I love our overall dashboard and it is the one I look at every day. I love it because it shows three of the most important parts of our marketing funnel: customer registrations, giveaway creations and orders placed.....all in one place. The other report I like to look at on a daily basis is the shipping information. Being able to see which facility is shipping the most and how fast shipments go out allows us to understand and manage our vendors better. I also love how easy GoodData makes it to share this information with our vendors.
GoodData: It sounds like you know precisely what KPI's need to be measured.
SwagLove: GoodData actually played a big part in helping us figure that out and now our focus is back to the metrics and understanding what is really happening in our company. We have the ability to better evaluate the success of projects and that helps us learn and improve.
GoodData: Thank you Kevin and thanks for being such a great GoodData customer.
SwagLove: One questions for you, Michelle............when will GoodData be using SwagLove?
GoodData: Ha! More to be revealed on that one, but I should say that our loyal customers should stay tuned.

business grew at an equally rapid pace, with a greater than 600% growth in cumulative monthly recurring revenue (CMRR) over May 2010. May also saw numerous new account wins, increased commitment from existing customers, and new Powered by GoodData partners.
"In May we reached the tipping point - both in users on our platform and companies making real financial commitments to us," said Roman Stanek, GoodData Founder and CEO. "We've been saying for years that GoodData = BI minus the BS, it's rewarding to see it come true."
Highlights of May include:
Product Usage: Overall platform usage increased 25% month-over-month, while active users grew 16%. Both of these metrics represent the biggest monthly increase in absolute numbers since GoodData launched commercially in November 2009.
Customer Traction: New customers signed include Turborecruit, TeamBuy, Swipely and Prezi, while Chef's Warehouse, Nielsen, Echelon and Swaglove all completed successful GoodData implementations. Companies that renewed their commitment to GoodData in May included Gazelle, PSA Insurance and Financial Services, Foundation Source, BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life) and Zinch.
Powered by GoodData: New Powered by GoodData partners including GreatVines, TaKaDu, Janova and Advantix are embedding GoodData dashboards and analytics into their products.
Platform: GoodData achieved 99.63% uptime in May, while GoodData received SAS70 Type 1 certification.
"GoodData helps us focus on the data and not the process," said Anand Hattiangladi, Product Manager, oDesk. "Our attention is no longer on tracking down the latest Excel spreadsheet—it is about making smart decisions based on the numbers."

Recently I had a conversation with Anand Hattiangladi, Product Manager at oDesk. oDesk uses GoodData to help aggregate all the metrics centered around their services offerings.
In this interview, Anand shares how oDesk utilizes GoodData’s reports and
... [More]
dashboards to distribute update metrics to the sales, marketing, product and executive teams and how ad-hoc analysis has helped oDesk call attention to the essentials business data.
GoodData: oDesk is unique. Basically, a business is outsourcing their work through the oDesk platform, but I am sure there is more to share. How does oDesk operate?
oDesk: In a nutshell, oDesk is a global marketplace that helps employers hire, manage, and pay remote freelancers or teams. Using oDesk, a company can grow their entire organization online and an independent contractor can build their career. Currently, we have a million plus contractors registered to work, over 80,000 jobs posted and millions of hours spent on online work.
GoodData: I heard through the GoodData Engineering grapevine that you were up to your eyeballs in Excel spreadsheets before your integration.
oDesk: There is some truth to that rumor. Before GoodData there were multiple data reports floating around which led to inconsistent data. If an old spreadsheet accidentally got into the mix, it got confusing for us to know what was current.
GoodData: What has been the best part of tossing out the Excel spreadsheets?
oDesk: The unlimited flexibility of customizations has put us all on the same page and managers are now interested at looking at the numbers. With spreadsheets it was just a pain to drill into the numbers to uncover what you really wanted to know. Not to mention that managers analyses were all different – not wrong, just different. We are all very ecstatic about GoodData’s ad hoc analysis.
GoodData: It sounds like the integration with GoodData has given you and the managers a few more hours in the week…..time to work on your next GoodData project. Tell me what you have in the works?
oDesk: GoodData has been and will continue to be a work in progress. We currently utilize 137 reports and when it was pushed out we only had 50. We have an overview of all the metrics; executives dashboards that aggregate all the metrics, marketing dashboards, support dashboards, payment dashboards and the product managers even have their specific reports. We are building gradually and hope to mash up our current projects with our data from Zendesk and then onto getting out Google Analytics data integrated.
GoodData: Do you have any tips for that you would like to share with current GoodData users and prospect? What has help oDesk with their GoodData success?
oDesk: I quickly learned oDesk could get a lot more out of our dashboards if they are designed well. I strongly suggestion reading anything from Stephen Few. He is inspiring and not to mention funny. Educating yourself on the art and science of a creating reports and dashboards can get help everyone get a lot more our of your GoodData investment.
GoodData: Nicely said! Thank you for this interview and let’s keep in touch.
oDesk: Thanks, Michelle
