I must admit, it took a lot for me to give up the habit that is called vi but Eclipse can really help tame the large projects. With global serches I tend to create smaller modules that help localize functionality and gives you much better control over design and implementation.
It suppoert auto completion, formatting and syntax checking. A very nice plugin for Eclipse!
Also, get the padwalker module for excellent debugging capabilities.
I have it running on both Windows and Linux and I've had no issues with it.
