The new version of the Clubmixer Suite provides major enhancements to all aspects of the software. [More] songs and requests additional music information from the Clubmixer Database. This metadata repository in synchronized continuously to detect relationships between the different titles. This week the Slychief Mutlimedia initiated the development of a Windows Mobile Client for the Clubmixer Audio Suite. This client allows for controlling Clubmixer Server from your Wifi-enabled Smartphone. This mobile client is the next step in turning the Clubmixer into a full featured Audio Suite for your home, bar, restaurant, shop, etc.

Slychief Multimedia Clubmixer can now be followed on Ohloh (see Project Page). Ohloh is a website which provides a web services suite and online community platform that aims to map the landscape of open source software development. By retrieving data ... [More] from revision control repositories (such as CVS, SVN, or Git), Ohloh provides statistics about the longevity of projects, their licenses (including license conflict information) and software metrics such as source lines of code and commit statistics. The codebase history informs about the amount of activity for each project. According to Ohloh’s algortihm of counting source code lines, Clubmixer codebase currently counts 39.500 LOCs. A provided calculator estimates how much a software would cost to hire a team to write this project from scratch – for the Clubmixer Suite this would currently be 505.000$ – Nice!!! [Less]

Slychief Multimedia Clubmixer reached Alpha state and is ready for download at Sourceforge. The new release includes several archetectural changes, like a new plugin dependency handling. Additionally a wizard was introduced to successfully guide the ... [More] user in initially setting up the server.Also some minor changes were applied to the client's user interface. The last Clubmixer Alpha Release ticket has been solved and the long run test finished successfully by constantly playing music for more than 300 hours. The final testing period has just been initiated and if no further major bugs can be found, Clubmixer Alpha is to be released in about two weeks.

To keep an eye on the current development state and to manage a stable release handling, the open source project management system Trac is used. LyricWiki is a nice repository which provides lyrics to nearly 800.000 songs of different artists worldwide. They seem to be eager to promote and expand the website (i.e. they are hosting a Facebook-Application called LyricWiki-Challenge).   Access ... [More] to LyricsWiki One of the most delightful things about LyricWiki is that it provides a SOAP webservice for information retrieval. This is one bright spot in the currently escalating fashion of REST services. Anyway, whereas SOAP usually promises an easy way of automatically integrating webservices into your own solutions, this particular service needs some hacking too. The wsdl has to be downloaded and manipulated in order to run any generator on it. Furthermore it only supports JAX-RPC style, which demands a bunch of extra libraries to be added to the classpath. Clubmixer development is pushing forward steadily. Allthough there are still some things to do, the main components are ready and their development has stabilized. I am looking forward to provide a alpha version of Clubmixer Server, Clubmixer Client and one or two plugins within the next month.
