I've been using IPCOP for a few years now, as up to recently, it has been imho one of the few good available out there
however, with the opensource firewall candidates coming to play, IPCOP is about to loose :
some of the fresh candidates have many features build into the basebuild, where you would have to add addons, tweak or hack IPCOP to get the same features
examples :
- more than 1 red interface
- loadbalancing
- clear reports
- integrated openvpn (although the addon for IPCOP is ok)
- integrated antivirus and antispam (requires a fat, everlasting beta addon to IPCOP)
- 2 way firewall rules/policies
-....
Conclusion : I'm not saying IPCOP is bad, I'm saying, now there are a few better out there
