I just wanted to add a few annotations to the Ohloh report.
First off, at the moment (early 2007) a lot of auto-generated code is included in the SVN repository. Little of this code has any comments, so both the number of lines of code and the amount of commenting are incorrect from the analysis done here.
I suspect in a few months, it will appear as if 100,000 lines of code (or much more) will disappear. That's a good thing. Anyone using SWIG can regenerate them. This also means that our "activity" looks like it has decreased to Ohloh. We are still an incredibly active project.
Also, the Ohloh report notes a file with the Artistic License. This code (snprintf replacement for platforms without that library call) is dual-licensed under the GPL and the Artistic License. We're really careful with such things!

As for my review? I think Open Babel is great -- it's wonderful for both helpful chemistry tools and for coding up chemistry-aware software.
