Cannot add code location after deleting old location

Hi,
I am trying to update the code location for the project https://www.openhub.net/p/dkpro-tc, however, after deleting the old location, I cannot add a the new location (http://github.com/dkpro/dkpro-tc.git) - to be precise, I can add it, but it is not accepted (new error message, basically nothing happens). I have no idea what I might be missing.

Could you help with this issue? Thanks!

Johannes; I was able to add the indicated repository.

Ritchie, could you please edit your post and provide the URL for the repository?

Gents; if you run into this problem again, could you grab a screen shot with the URL and error message and screencast or dropbox it for us? It would aid tremendously in debugging the problem.

Thanks!

Thanks, Peter!

Maybe the problem occurred because I didn't place the git:// before the URL? In any case, there was definitely no error message. Just nothing happened...

Johannes Daxenb... over 9 years ago

Hi Johannes;

That could definitively be the cause, although there should have been an error message.

Please do let us know if you encounter something unexpected!

Peter Degen-Por... over 9 years ago

I think I used http://github.com/dkpro/dkpro-tc.git (leading http://) as URL and I did not see this error message.
Anyways, thanks for your help.

Johannes; we found the problem and just deployed a patch. Would you please give it another go and let us know if you encounter any more difficulties? Thanks!

Hmm; I'm trying the same thing on https://www.openhub.net/p/jwpl and I have exactly the same problem: nothing happens upon adding a new code location (nor using http://, nor git://). I am, however, not an Admin of https://www.openhub.net/p/jwpl (but that was also the case in https://www.openhub.net/p/dkpro-tc). I can delete code location, but not add them.

Could you add https://github.com/dkpro/dkpro-jwpl.git to https://www.openhub.net/p/jwpl?

I have the same issue for the following projects:

  1. https://www.openhub.net/p/evecacheparser location is https://bitbucket.org/Desmont_McCallock/evecacheparser.git

  2. https://www.openhub.net/p/evemon location is https://bitbucket.org/BattleClinic/evemon.git

  3. https://www.openhub.net/p/LogitechLcddotNet although has location (git://github.com/JimiC/LogitechLcd.Net.git ) is not updating.

Hi Johannes and JimiC;

I've opened a new defect ticket against the behavior you've reported and have added the repositories you've indicated.

JimiC; LogitechLcddotNet has recently been updated and a new analysis generated. Analyzed about 22 hours ago. based on code collected about 22 hours ago.

Peter Degen-Por... over 9 years ago

Peter: LogitechLcddotNet looks OK now. Thanks. Waiting patiently on a solution for the other repos.

Thanks, Peter; https://www.openhub.net/p/jwpl is ok now as well. Let me know if I can help to further debug this problem.

Same here, lot of problems trying to add https://github.com/theclue/facebook.advanced to facebook-advanced project. No error message, just the Add Code Location page refreshing :(

Hi! Since my repository wasn't checked for a long time I tried to force a re-scan be deleting and re-adding the code location. After deleting the code location I can't add any new location. No error is shown. I see that there is some check, but the form isn't submitted.

Could you please fix this?

Thanks in advance,
Jörg

Any news on this? Something I could do to fix this?

Jörg Neubert over 9 years ago

As far as I know, the problem persists - I don't know of any solution I could carry out myself.

Johannes Daxenb... over 9 years ago

Hi Guys;

Sorry that this hasn't been resolved with the last update. We've still got it on our radar.

Peter Degen-Por... over 9 years ago

And would it at least be possible to add my repository by hand?! All data are listed above. It looks that bad that I have a nice project, but no source at all. Please add my code location!!!

Thanks in advance,
Jörg

Hi all,

what's going on here? How can it be that I still can't add my source code location from github to my project? Without this openhub has NO SENSE at all! No one can even add it manually. This state hasn't changed for more than one month already.

If you are not able to fix this, please add a big button to simply delete a project from your site. What is an open source project without its open source?

Jörg

Hi Jörg, Again, I apologize for the delay. This is a now a critical defect that is getting attention.

Peter Degen-Por... over 9 years ago

Hi Jörg,

I was able to add the code location with 'https://github.com/Jo2003/vlc_record.git" as the URL instead of the git://github.org/Jo2003/vlc_record.git URL, which seemed to be hanging.

This is still a critical defect at the top of our list.

OK, thanks!

I am experiencing the same issue with this project: https://www.openhub.net/p/RdfTurtleWriter

I am trying to add https://github.com/RDF-Utilities-dotnet/RdfTurtleWriter.git as a code location.

However, upon clicking Save Code Location, there is a status display Checking server connection that appears for a few seconds and then disappears again. Mostly, nothing else happens. Irregularly, the whole page appears to get refreshed, in which case there is a multi-line error message written in red and dark brown for a split-second, before that disappears, too.

EDIT: Worked around the issue - and realized it might be a serious security problem

Apparently, the flickering error message is a part of the settings page for Subversion repositories. Those can be supplied with a user name + password combination (while Git code locations cannot). Upon switching there, I realized the respective page was displaying an error message about illegal characters in my password. As I had not entered any password, but something was entered there, I guess my browser's auto-complete had put some access data of mine (my OpenHub credentials maybe?) there.

If that is the case, browsers mistake the respective input boxes for a OpenHub login field. This is a serious issue, given that the content of those input boxes will become public knowledge.

Hi Florian;

Thanks for this information. I'll open a new ticket to ensure that we are careful about how we handle the variety of input the form can provide.
