ClearOS: unable to add dev aliases, even if there are dupes left

Ben & Peter each have a duplicate:
https://www.ohloh.net/p/clearos/contributors

But can't get them from this list:
https://www.ohloh.net/p/clearos/aliases/new

Thanks!

HI Marc;

We looked at this scenario. Here are the notes from Sathish's investigation:

================================

Here's the case for Peter Baldwin:

He claimed his first position on clearos back in 2010 in the name 'peter'. Hence, all further claims had created aliases to 'peter'. However a whole lot of new enlistments were added around Apr 7, 2014 and the old ones are deleted. So the name 'peter' is now available only in a deleted enlistment and it answers why the name doesn't appear in the available preferred names to create an alias. The project manager can take no action on this. It should be resolved when Peter Baldwin claims the last unclaimed position for clearos - https://www.ohloh.net/committers?query=Peter+Baldwin&find_by=name

[I expect it is] the same case for Ben chambers. It should be fixed when Benjamin Chambers claims his position for clearos - https://www.ohloh.net/committers?query=Ben+chambers&find_by=name

Interesting.

If the current aliases are all deleted, and redone, will this resolve?

Thanks!

If the current aliases are deleted, then any currently existing committer IDs will be freed for re-assignment. Any names in a deleted enlistment should no longer appear.

Is that helpful?

I think so.

I deleted all the aliases, will wait for next stats, and will re-assign some

Thanks!

I re-added some aliases.

However, I still have duplicates:
https://www.ohloh.net/p/clearos/contributors

And they are unavailable here:
https://www.ohloh.net/p/clearos/aliases/new

Thanks!

The problem persists.

Any other things to try?

Thanks!

Hi Marc;

This is a completely new code base, but we tried to fully reproduce the behavior of the previous site. Looks like we succeeded. :-/

I've opened a ticket and we'll look into it. Thanks for the heads up!
