Hi, Have you thought of making Ohloh...

Hi,
Have you thought of making Ohloh open source? It seems
1) Very appropriate
2) A great way to get a ton of free labor. The majority of the corpus of open source engineers probably use the site and would like to help get new features out just so that they could use them.
3) It still doesn't have to be FOSS. But it would be cool if we could contribute.

Personally, I just want my project to be processed more often, so I'd love to look at how that is pulled/processed and optimize the h3ck out of it.

Thx.

Yes, our current plan is to open up the Ohloh code, and the sooner the better.

The irony of point 1 is not lost on us, and the benefits of point 2 are the real reason. We simply don't have enough development resources internally to add all of the features that people have requested, so opening up is a way to achieve that.

It's not yet decided exactly how much of the code we'll open, or exactly what the licensing terms will be. Certainly, the source control interface and the language parsing will be opened. On a daily basis we are doing a lot of code refactoring and cleanup with the intention that we'd like it to be easy for new people to come on board and understand the code and contribute easily.
