Could you support bazaar for version control

  • 1 for that idea. I would like to add a project hosted at launchpad to OHLOH and guess what they use bazaar!!!

Adding a new source control system to Ohloh isn't technically difficult, especially if it's a distributed system that supports push and pull. However, we are a very small team, and we don't have the resources internally to develop all of the new features that are being requested. A lot of our time is spent maintaining the current service level.

So our plan is to open the Ohloh source code, and we hope that the community will step in to help us implement new features -- otherwise bazaar support may be many months away.

We are currently reviewing the business impact of this, working out the logistics of how this will all happen, as well as doing some code cleanup. I expect we'll be opening before the end of the year.

Ohloh is written in Ruby, with a bit of Postgres-specific SQL and some C in the line counter.

Is there any place where I can follow up the progress on this. Have you already published the API. If yes where?
Thank you

We haven't made any moves towards opening up the source code yet.

We have a published API, but this gives access to the project data, not the Ohloh source code. You can read about here.

Is there already some decision concerning the license under which ohloh source code will be published? Because you were talking about business impact - you should maybe consider the AGPL. This at least guarantees that no competitor can develop faster than you can.

I'm hoping for bazaar integration too. Launchpad.net, which uses it, already has quite a few projects registered...

Finally, ohloh supports bzr. Great thanks to the devs.
