QuakeForge not updating.

While six days might be a bit early to complain, the QuakeForge project (http://www.ohloh.net/p/quake) hasn't updated due to an error in one of its enlistments.

Might it be reasonable retry 2-3 times (ones per day) before giving up?

Bill,

At this stage, it very much depends on what the nature of the failure is. I'll go off and diagnose it and report back here.

Thanks!

Bill,

As I guessed, this project was subject to the latest issue (read: bug) that we have been chasing. I have rescheduled the job which failed and will report back to you here once it has finished.

We do actually have a pretty elaborate system of re-tries for the failures that we encounter. This has made it so that internet problems and failures at the repository end are retried repeatedly and I think the figure is ten retries over a staggered period that can add up to a month or more. We think that we catch most of these errors and get them resolved. The problem comes with internal ohloh errors like the one you experienced. As the other problems are dealt with, the errors like this one become more prominent and we're just coming to grips with the extent of the problem. Glad you're watching the project closely.

Thanks!

Bill,

The rescheduled job finished OK and the project was analyzed. A full update started immediately and also finished OK. Analysis page is at Sep 23 2011 and last commit is at 2011-09-23 (about 1 hour ago).

Fortunately, Bill, this bug is pretty intermittent and doesn't seem to be recurrent on any one project any more than randomly. Hopefully it will leave you alone for a while.

Please let me know here if you notice anything is wrong in the future.

Thanks!

Yes, thank you!

After I posted, I did find the information about retries, so I'm sorry about that.

I hope you find the bug. Intermittent bugs are the worst :(

I'll keep an eye on things.
