The address of Ohloh's jabber bot has always been [email protected]. But now jabber.ohloh.net doesn't even resolve to anything.
Is this the death of the Ohloh Jabber bot?
Lastly, we’re discontinuing our Jabber support in order to invest more time in fixing the data quality issues. Based on our logs, an extremely small number of users have been using an IM client to post updates to journals. In the meantime, we are investigating ways to update the journal feature to work better with Twitter, Facebook, and other social media sites so users can receive timely updates regarding projects.

damn, I was one of those few users :/
Well that sucks hairy goat balls. Ohloh changes ownership and the jabber client stops working. You say you're working on fixing it. Months pass and it's still not working. Then you say it's discontinued.
The jabber client was really useful. It's a false dichotomy that one must stop supporting jabber so one can support twitter and facebook.
I don't use facebook, and twitter is limited to an appalling 140 chars, so I doubt your replacement service will be of any use to me.
I was also one of those few people who got jettisoned.
How hard is it to run a XMPP daemon on a PoS box over in the corner anyway? I have like 6 in my basement right now running OpenFire & eJabberd. What's the big deal.
Fire that thing back up again.
Thanks.
Cheers.
Jason
Oh, hey, wait, sign-up for GoogleApps, throw your domain in there & kill all services but Chat, and youre done. Next.
Oh, hey, wait, again, call up jabber.org & give them $5.00 & have them host it for you.
You know, I am just now seeing what my avatar looks like on this page, as I post here, and even though it is a shadow, damn, I am one handsome SOB!
That was actually the coolest thing on ohloh. Since it is discontinued
, then chances are I am going to discontinue ohloh...
