I think Ohloh has collected enough data about developers to generate some interesting metrics-based factoids about users, much as you do with projects.
Factoids should show up automatically on user profiles: they are a nice way to stimulate competitivity and IMO metrics-based factoids are definitely more meaningful than kudos. If you're not interested in implementing this at Ohloh, these seem to me good ideas for an application based on the Ohloh API.
Hi dartar,
This has been something I've wanted to do for a long time, and I'm glad to hear you proposing the idea.
At this point it's simply a matter of development resources to get things like this implemented. That's why the Ohloh API is at the top of our priorities right now -- so that the community can step in to add new features and experiment with new reports.
Much of this can be seen in the language reports, but you're right -- this really should go directly onto the Ohloh profile pages (which need a bit of a cleanup anyway).
Perhaps we've hesitated a little on this feature because we know people become very sensitive when individual metrics are incorrect, incomplete, or simply unflattering. But I think it could be fun, competetive, and useful, so I'd like to try.
