upcase of projects

hi dtw,

I'm not totally clear on what the problem was, exactly, but we've since (today) deployed some pretty big changes underneath, so we may have fixed this (or possible made it worse!). Anyway, I decided to try it out and claimed a position for myself as 'alex' on the Entropy project - which worked. Could you try this again and let me know if the problem is still happening?

Dtw,

I also renamed the lowercase project 'entropy' to 'Entropy Password Generator' to avoid a name collision - maybe this was the whole problem all along.

Hi dtw,

Let me save you some vain hope. We don't really delete enlistments (we just detach them from the project), so when you remove and recreate an enlistment, you end up getting a pointer to the same failed enlistment you had before. The web page display might be different, but behind the scenes nothing has changed.

Our database does not enforce uniqueness on project names, case sensitive or otherwise. Yes, this is a problem, and we really should fix this.

When it comes time to add positions to your profile, the project name matches are not case-sensitive. If two projects have the same name but have different case, you will be matched to either one of them arbitrarily. This wouldn't be a problem if we had enforced uniqueness properly to begin with.

Sorry you've been having trouble and that the answers weren't clear. I hope this helps.

Ah, so that is why you've all been telling us not to delete and recreate enlistments when they fail? ;)
