I wonder if ohloh will ever open its source code.
Ohloh, the open source network
- But your own code isn't open source
January 2008 - Ohcount goes open source. Jason Allen says, other parts of ohloh will follow in the next months (https://www.ohloh.net/pdfs/pr_011508.pdf)
July 2010 - labs.ohloh.net doesn't exist anymore, the link to labs
(under tools
) leads to the sourceforge ohcount page instead, no other source code has ever been released and last but not least there are rumors that GeekNet would close ohloh (http://blog.devx.com/2010/06/famed-freshmeat-software-listi.html).
What's going on? I (and I guess many many others) really like Ohloh! We don't want it to be closed, and we'd like to get its source code and contribute!
yup this silence is starting to get on my nerves aswell. Will we have to move our downloads from Ohloh to SF ? Not a prospect i look forward to since my code is hosted on Googlecode.
Judging from the amount of spam, the number of projects that are no longer updated and lack of response when notified about it, I'd say that geeknet bought ohloh to let it die of neglect, which is hardly very respectful to the people who spent time editing it!
I really liked Ohloh.. but I'm getting more and more disappointed. I guess it's time for an alternative.
