Cacophony Project

It appears the downloader failed 5 days ago on the Cacophony Project repo. I recently setup the repo to use authentication, which I verified by hand does work. Can you tell me why the downloader has not updated? It would be nice if the manager of a project could see why an update failed (bad user/pass, connection timeout, etc) when viewing the enlistments and logged in.

Hi Vadtec,

It looks like we are unable to connect to the Subversion repository because we do not have a valid username/password.

I agree that it would be nice in this case to be able to see the error message, but in many cases the error messages are only meaningful within Ohloh, and wouldn't be helpful to end users.

If you re-enable anonymous access, or send us new credentials, I can restart the updates.

Thanks,
Robin

Robin,

Where would I need to send the username and password to? [email protected] or similar?

I am also curious as to how the username and pass was corrupted, because I can login to the svn just fine as the ohloh user, and I am quite certain that the information was entered correctly.

Thanks for the help.

Currently I'm showing a blank username and password for this repository in our database. I'm pretty sure that's the data we were given, but I suppose it's not impossible that the username and password were somehow lost. I don't have any ability to review the log of how this might have changed.

I'll warn you that we do not make any attempt to keep source code or passwords secret. We don't advertise the passwords on our web site, but neither do we make any guarantee to secure them. If you are trying to keep your source control away from prying eyes, you should not provide Ohloh with access.

The most common passwords given to Ohloh are guest and anonymous. That's the style of password we deal in.

If I haven't scared you away, then yes, you can send us a username and password at [email protected].

Thanks Robin,

No, you have not scared me away. If someone want's to svn co my code, power to them. I have it setup where ohloh doesn't have write access (that would be silly). I will e-mail you the username and password. I can say with certainty that I did input the username and password into the form on the website. I don't know if that might be the problem, but it's all I have to go on.

Thanks again,

Vadtec
