two commit names in project

Hi,

I have code attributed to me under 'max' and 'maxbaker' for the netdisco project. Unfortunately I can only select one of these as 'this is me!' . Can you attribute both to me, or at least change the one I'm attributed to to be the bigger one?

Thanks,
-m

Hi Max,

We only allow you to claim one contributor in a project. However, we have an aliases feature which lets you merge differently named contributors so that they appear as one contributor. So you could for instance alias 'max' to 'maxbaker' and all modifications would show up as 'maxbaker'.

Here's a link to the netdisco alias page: http://www.ohloh.net/projects/3914/aliases

Let me know if this wasn't helpful or you need more info,

Thanks!

Andy

thanks andy. I did the alias thing, great new feature since the last time I was here. But now I am attached to the alias instead of the primary user. Could you remove my claim to 'max' so I can claim 'maxbaker' which has 'max' as an alias?

Thanks,
'max'

Hi Max,

It looks like you discovered a hole in our UI -- creating the alias means that your old claim doesn't show in the list anymore, which means you can't delete it. Ugh.

I've manually deleted your old 'max' claim from the database, so you should be able to make a new claim for 'maxbaker'. Let me know if you have trouble.

Thanks Robin! It accepted the new claim to the merged user. And don't worry, even as a child the first thing I did when I got a new toy was to break it :-)

Hi Robin,

I have the same problem, apparently: I claimed octo of the collectd project and then made that an alias for Florian Forster. Now I can't claim that and my contributions under octo don't show up either :/ Could you remove my clain for octo to I can claim Florian Forster together with that alias? Thanks :)

Hi Octo,

I deleted your claim for octo, and you may now claim Florian Forster. Thanks for reporting this. Let me know if you have any troubles.

Hi Andy,

thank you very much, it worked without a problem now :)

I have the same problem on the pacman project- we switched from CVS to GIT development, and I had claimed my CVS commit name. However, once I deleted the CVS repository, I can no longer see my old claimed name to delete it, so cannot claim my new name.

Hi Dan,

I deleted the claim you'd made for Pacman's CVS repository.

Everyone else: we'd like to automate this process but until then, please continue to post here if you have this problem, make a new post, or email [email protected].

Thanks for the post and for using Ohloh! Let me know if I can do anything else,
Andy
