Is it better to wait for the robot to discover my project on Google code, or is it safe to add the project on my own manually?
The project has been on Google code for 9 days now and I would have assumed it would be picked up by now if it was going to be. Is the robot crawling more slowly than that?
You should definitely add the project to Ohloh yourself.
Our coverage of Google Code is incomplete, and our crawler does not run on a regular schedule. You may end up waiting a long time :-).
Alright, sounds great! My project is moving pretty slowly so I'm not in a super rush, but it is good to know that it might be awhile if I don't do it myself!
Will the crawler be smart enough to realize that it is already in the system if it finds it for the first time later?
Yes, once our crawler discovers your project, we should recognize it. We have a lot of tricks we use (homepage URL, Subversion URL, etc) to detect a match.
