Open Source Ruby Forum?

WARNING: Really dumb question from a non-techie...

Quick question - is this forum (which looks fantastic!) created in Ruby and is it open source? Also, as above for the whole user profile pages? We're building (well not me, as you may have guessed) a product search / deal discovery site in Ruby and are looking for forum / user profile applications to integrate.

If not do you know of any relevant forum software we could use?

Thanks for your help,
Neil

Hi fwd_NH,

A very reasonable question, asked in a most agreeable way!

We integrated the Beast source code into our project. We then re-implemented a different look and feel by applying our own css (stylesheet).

Looks like the beast homepage is down right now, but you still get at the source code here.

A minor warning: it's somewhat tedious to merge the Beast code into your own rails project. It's not really Beast's fault - it's just that rails doesn't offer up an elegant to do that (yet?).

Thanks for the prompt answer Jay.

I'm guessing a lot of the impressive user profile widgets (follow, journal, kudos etc...) were added on top of the Beast source code by your team? Is any of that available as open source too?
