deleting duplicate project?

Hi,

I am the developer of Outline (http://outline.mindplay.dk) - a template engine for PHP.

I have just created my account, and finished adding my first project - then I realized that my software is already listed...

https://www.ohloh.net/p/php-outline

Looks like maybe this was automatically picked up from Google Code?

The project I've added is here:

https://www.ohloh.net/p/outline

Would it be possible to delete the automatically imported project? I don't want to maintain two different pages.

I already have the same issue with two of my projects. So, I would also be interested in the answer to this question. =)

Hi Rasmus,

I deleted php-outline for you.

Archwyrm, I can do this for you also if you want the automatically created project removed. Just let me know the name of the project to remove (and the one that's replacing it).

Hi Andy,

We actually started using the generated one, so I suppose we will keep it depending on the following issue. When I tried to swap URLs just now it seems that you always keep references to old URLs and reserve that namespace. So if it is easier to delete the generated project (which does not own the proper URL) then we can simply use the manually added one.

The project we are using is here. The one I would like deleted is here. You can see how I tried to change URLs. =)

The issue with my second project is that we have a Google Code project and a SourceForge project and so they were both picked up. We have never really used the SourceForge one. So, we would like to keep this and delete this. Hmm.. Seems there is the URL issue here too probably due to the order of picking up the projects.

Is there some logic in place to avoid automatically picking up these projects again?

Regarding links - yes, that's so if you link to one of our projects, the link will keep working even if the project's url is changed.

However, I deleted the copy of dungeonhack you wanted deleted and manually freed that url name, and then gave it to the report for dungeon hack you wanted preserved.

An improvement in the auto-picking software might be to ignore white-space when looking for duplicates. I'll look into making that change.

Yes, the order of the project creation determines which projects gets a url. I deleted the SourceForge project copy and gave its url to the Google Code project.

Regarding how we'll avoid picking the projects a second time. Deleting a project on ohloh is actually achieved by un-doing the project creation. We keep all the project history. So our project importer will see the project and that it's deleted and not re-import.

Thanks for all the feedback, I really appreciate it and knowing which projects are duplicates.
