Haiku project stats left behind

Hi there

Since a few months (February I think) the svn enlistment of Haiku (porject 3399) had been stalled. It is hosted on berlios.de and as BerliOS seems to have been messing with access methods lately and svn doesn't really seem too reliable anymore, I've switched the enlistment to the http address (which seems to be the preferred access method now). Right after that it looked like it would work out, as it didn't fail at step 1 as before. But now it fails at step 3 with Counting lines of source code (Failed). It seems that this enlistment was used about a year ago already and that it then also had those issues, apparently worked around by switching to the svn access method. Could it be that there is a stale checkout of that old access method still around that is somehow corrupt? Thanks in advance for looking into it.

Hi Micheal,

I did some investigating, and the result is not promising.

It looks like our local copy of the repository has become corrupted somehow, and unfortunately this means we will need to download a new copy of the repository from scratch.

Yes, BerliOS has been notoriously slow and unreliable for us, and I remember much heartache in our first attempt to download Haiku.

I will start a fresh download, and will add it to my watchlist. Hopefully the new download will go smoothly.

Thanks,
Robin

Is this going well? I noticed it's still in Stage 1.

I believe there is a mirror of the Haiku repo that is maintained privately on the Haiku Trac server (to support faster source browsing from http://dev.haiku-os.org). I believe it is updated every 30 minutes to stay in sync with Berlios. Perhaps we can find a way to provide access to this for Ohloh...

The download is moving, but slowly.

After each failure, our system uses progressive delays before trying again. Since this project has so many errors during download, it tends to spend a lot of time waiting in the queue.

I have been keeping an eye on it and trying to keep it moving forward. I've been manually removing delays when I can. I think it is about 10% complete.

If there was a higher-performance mirror somewhere, that would be very helpful.

Seems that it's still crawling away. I saw it download a few times in the last few days, but of course the initial checkout is a pretty big chunk. BerliOS provides complete project svn dumps for download however. Maybe the initial checkout could be done this way? The URL for a complete Haiku repository dump would be http://download.berlios.de/svndumps/haiku-repos.gz which amounts to around 500MB.

Michael
