Importing source code into database failed

Closed

... 2 days ago for svn: https://www.openhub.net/p/fbdb/enlistments

As the (historic) svn is hosted at SF there's a web view available:
https://sourceforge.net/p/fbdb/code/HEAD/tree/trunk/

BTW: download failed (in step 1) is clear, but what does the error message Importing source code into database failed actually means?

Hello,

We are looking into this and will you keep informed once completed

Happy to help!

@ramprasath:
The project seem to got a forced source re-download when you posted (nine days ago) and failed on the second step again - the error just got a new number for n days ago (currently 9).

What is wrong with the svn repo?
What does the error message Importing source code into database failed actually means?

We have identified the issue and working on it.
we will get back to you shortly.

Thank you !

Hey @Simon Sobisch, is this project still maintained on Sourceforge? By viewing, the homepage on Sourceforge, I can see that there is a message stating that the project has now moved to Github and that the last update was on 2015-04-28. For the import failure, an immediate solution could be to simply remove the svn repository location from the project's enlistment page (https://www.openhub.net/p/fbdb/enlistments). Afterwards, every subsequent import will build succesfully. Are there any commits unique to the svn repository that are not in Github?

@drubio: yes: the problem is that the SVN repository which is the actual base for the git repository wasn't correctly imported - therefore the SVN repository is need as read-only repo.

... and I assume there is a generic bug in the importer (I still don't know what Importing source code into database failed actually means and therefore I assume it simply means The importer has a bug which isn't solved yet) - a bug is not unlikely to occur with other repositories, too (there's really nothing special in this repo).

@Simon Sobisch, I've gone ahead and removed the code location for the SVN repository and started a new Job to update your code. Could you at some point verify if the project looks ok with you? The error code about Importing source code into database failed is a message on our side. If the statistics for your project are incorrect, then we'll have to open an engineering ticket to look into the matter more thoroughly. Hope that helps any.

drubio about 8 years ago

@drubio: as I said before the stats are wrong because of the missing history. And even if it wouldn't be the case I'd prefer an engineering ticket to be opened as this may happen on other repos, too.

So: Yes, please open an engineering ticket.

@Simon. An update on your issue. Our engineering sprint has recently been completed along with the error that you are receiving with the svn repository. Please check again this afternoon or tomorrow morning at the latest. If any problems persist please let me know.

Hi Simon, I apologize for the radio silence but the technical issue regarding your project was a hairy one on our end. I looked at our code source and the first issue with your svn repository was that our code base was incorrectly processing your project due to an encoding issue. The second issue after that was a permissions error with svnadmin creating repositories (again with our system). After the fixed, I've run through a fresh analysis and both code locations seemed to have processed. Can I confirm that your project looks good on its page?

Finally - solved. Thank you.
I hope the solved issues will be useful for different projects, too.
