Hi, the OpenBSD ( https://www.openhub.net/p/openbsd ) project is outdated. I would like to add new Code Locations but I can't because the modifications are only permitted to the managers. There is only one manager which is an user unrelated to the project. I'm an official developer of the OpenBSD project (you can send me an email to juanfra at openbsd.org if you need a proof). Can you add me as manager to the project?. I tried to contact with the manager a week ago using the Request Manager status for OpenBSD
form but nobody replied.
Also I would like to be a manager for the OpenBSD Ports project ( https://www.openhub.net/p/openbsd-ports ). I also tried to get the manager status using the same form but again, nobody added my user as a manager.
Hi Juan;
Sorry for the delay in responding to you. I am working on getting the repositories in the openbsd project to update.
The issue with the managers is more challenging. I haven't been able to find independent verification of participation in the OpenBSD project. I'll try reaching out to the current manager to see if there are any objections and, if there are none, would be willing to add you as a manager. However, we know that these kinds of issues can be very sensitive with different opinions amongst a group of people.
The enlistment is a big project with some 169,286 commits to import. Might it be desirable to create multiple enlistments of the sub-projects instead of the one enlistment will all the sub directories.
Are you trying to find an independent verification for me? or for the current manager? I told you my OpenBSD email, you can find my commits in the repos (search juanfra
as the commit author, e.g. http://bit.ly/1PGwiGd ) and you can find also my name in the OpenBSD release announcements in the last years (e.g. http://bit.ly/1RKuZus ).
The current manager is just an user. You can't find any reference to his name, nick or email related to the project.
My plan was add some official developers as managers, so the project in OpenHUB would never be outdated again. Obviously, the current manager did a bad work keeping the project info updated. I don't want to open new tickets every time that something is outdated.
Respect to the sub-projects
. Those don't exists as subprojects, those are just different repos because we don't want merge everything in a bigger one. Every developer has commit access to every repo.
That said, let me know if you need more info to verify my account. I changed my email address to the OpenBSD one, so you can send me a verification link (like the web does with new accounts).
Hi Juan,
Unfortunately, we've had experiences where we thought we were doing the right thing only to have members of the project get very upset, so I hope you'll understand my hesitation.
That said, I don't see your request for Manager of either OpenBSD or OpenBSD-Ports. Did you cancel those requests?
No, I sent the request just a few days before of open this ticket.
Hi Juan;
Would you please go to the OpenBSD manager page and the Open BSD Ports manager page and request to be a manager.
Then please let me know here so I can approve the request.
I added the request to both projects. Let me know if something is wrong.
Hi Juan;
I've made you the manager of the Open BSD Ports project, but still do not see you for the Open BSD project.
Here is a screen shot: OpenBSD Managers
I've also checked the database to see of you were there, but not visible in the UI and there is no record in the database. Finally, I tried becoming a manager myself to make sure the request was visible and confirmed that it seems to work as expected
There are some errors in our reporting system around this controller, so we're going to look into it. I used the back end system to make you manager of Open BSD.
May I ask that you review the existing manager requests and resolve them? Many thanks.
Thanks a lot!. There are some requests from official developers. I will clean the list.
Can you approve also my request to OpenSSH? The project is managed by the same manager as the OpenBSD project. https://www.openhub.net/p/openssh
